People infected with herpes may spread the disease even if they do not realize it. According to research there is strong evidence that people with herpes can transmit infection even while their disease appears to be inactive and or no sores are visible. Anyone with the disease should avoid sexual contact when sores are present. Using a condom while having sex does not prevent the spread of disease not all sores are covered by the condom.

Symptoms may show after 3 to 7 days upon contact with an infected person. In the initial outbreak herpes infections looks like small blisters (round areas of broken skin). Blisters form first then eventually break into ulcers. Your genital area should exhibit tenderness or redness and has a painful feeling. For men genital sores appear around the penis. For women it can appear inside and outside the vagina that can cause discomfort and vaginal discharge which can be seen through a physical examination with a doctor or provider. Or if you are having anal sex blisters can also be apparent in and around the anus.

If these are apparent then you should have a herpes test done. You can visit your health center and get a test or you can order a Herpes Testing by Post and provide a sample to be tested by a laboratory. Usually herpes tests are conducted with a physical examination, then blood work or Herpes Testing form Urine Sample (for tests over the internet). Any herpes test done either from the health center or ordered over the internet are both reliable they are tested with the top UK pathology labs.
